People are always like, why Tallahassee? The truth is because I’m in Florida (home) BUT my house will not be under water in 50 years. Climate change is real and it really impacts mental health. As we experience more extreme weather events, it will increase the rates of all mental illness (due to increased acute and chronic stress).
Air quality is going to be another huge factor for our mental health in the future. Poor air quality is associated with higher rates of many health problems including depression, postpartum depression, and anxiety.
“The World Health Organization (WHO) has ranked air pollution as one of the major environmental health risks, and the single biggest environmental threat to human health. Worldwide, it is estimated that 4.2 million and 3.8 million premature deaths were attributable to outdoor and indoor air pollution, respectively.”
